Discussion Karla
introduced Nicole Smolders, the WIBC liaison for the Javea Women's
Shelter, who filed an emergency report for funding of €450, to help
a woman to get out of the Shelter and into her own apartment. The
application was prepared by Amparo Alemany, who is the Social Worker for the
Shelter. A
discussion took place on whether we should involve all 400 of our members to
be part of the decision making process when "emergency' funding
requests are made, and how this could be done. Outcome
1.
Payment of €450 as requested, agreed unanimously. Unlikely this can
be refunded, as this will be used for a final months rent if/when the family
moves. 2.
Information to be available to members, but not on open Website. 3.
Guidelines/Protocol for appropriate processing and quick response
when requests are received – small team to be agreed, to get this underway
initially. 4.
Nicole, Valerie and a cheque signatory (to be named) was agreed. 5.
Ana Vasbinder who joined us, thought these emergencies may occur 3-4
times per year, and reminded us that all legal and psychological needs/fees
are met. In this case, Generalitat are paying 30% of family rent (not
usual), & can supply food vouchers when needed. Nb Max’ time in
Refugio-6 months.
