2)General
discussion. About wibc- no one person in charge. Karla Darocas kindly volunteers to look after the website at considerable time and expense of her own. WIBC is an open association. No committees. Everyone is entitled to vote. Anyone can volunteer or be asked to be involved in any fundraiser, host meetings, take minutes, etc. Members
may join any meeting at any time, or any fundraiser or event- their input
can be whatever suits them. Meetings at present are in Calpe and Javea, but
may be held in other venues, at other times suggested by members. There are
no separate area ‘clubs’- there is only one wibc- with aims of
networking, support and fundraising- for women. There is not a competition
between areas. Suggestions/complaints. New box
on the website. Please use it for any ideas, or problems. Names need not be
given. Any suggestions welcome- and will be voted on. WIBC
BREAK FOR ALL AUGUST. AGM. Sunday July 16th 11 a.m.- please sign up for the brunch on the website. This
meeting is to get the ball rolling for IWD and fundraisers for the next
season- so there is less panic nearer the time. Cartridges
recycling – box shown. No
treasurers present- but reported there is about 10,000 Euros in the account.
Decisions are to be made re spending. WIBC pins- no-one at mtg had any pins. Madrid-
Bobby Frost’s report of the important meeting on the website. EMAUS Homes- report by Carol Saunders. As on the
wibc website. Carol told the mtg all about the need at the Womens and
Chrildrens’ Shelter in Altea for money and donations. Donation requests: The small home is very crowded with 9 mums and 12 children. Social Services have requested funds from us to place 5 teenagers on the Summer Camp in the Lady Elizabeth School. They would benefit greatly from this. Also 5 younger children need placing in the Summer Kindergarten. Both places have offered a 50% discount. Total
cost about 500 Euros requested for this. Vote taken. Everyone in agreement,
passed subject to other members agreeing to this. Needed are many important items that Social Services are unable to fund- High chairs, car seats, cots, pictures, linen, all kitchen equipment/ cooking items. The women
and children need clothes. A special request for a paddling pool and garden
toys, garden chairs, tables, has been made. Karla
agreed to send press releases to make public aware of the needs of the above
to see what can be obtained without purchasing new items. Meanwhile Carol will draw up an exact list of requirements. All agreed it would be good to buy a paddling pool and garden items / games/toys for the Summer as soon as possible and incorporate press releases to heighten awareness of domestic violence. Possible
pick up places for items discussed. Full
vote on buying paddling of pool and garden toys etc if other members agree
as soon as possible. 3) Product viewing. |
