MINUTES
FROM THE CALPE MEETING The
meeting was opened at 2pm and welcomed eighteen existing members and two new
members. NEW MEMBERS: The
two new members welcomed were:- Cath
Hunter, has a restaurant available for private functions only in
Empedrola, Calpe. It can seat
forty people comfortably indoors for a sit down meal, or will accommodate
more for a buffet style. It can
be booked for celebrations such as Christenings, Wedding parties, or
Birthday parties. It has large gardens and terraces and plenty of parking.
It is called “El Naranjal” (The Orange Grove). Teresa Alty
(Terry)
and her husband Chris have a computerized sign writing business between
Altea and La Nucia. Terry and
Chris opened the first computerised sign writing on the Costa Blanca in
1985, printing for windows, cars etc.. Terry and Chris now offer short run
printing (one off´s) for any kind of fabric, banners, uniforms, balloons
and photos. EXISTING

BY JANET BROWNRIGG: Janet
gave a talk on “staying focussed on what you want” which included some
of her own personal experiences. Everyone
was given a sheet with eight positive points that helped Janet achieve her
goals. TEAM
LEADERS REPORTS: Karla
– reminded everybody about the forthcoming auction on the 20th
October at El Cid and reiterated that clothing,
2nd hand electrical items and copy dvd´s cd´s and videos
will not be accepted. Viewing
of the items will start at 1pm and the bidding will start at 2pm. Sue Coley
– Is the New Member Liaison Officer and will be signing up new members at
the H&B show from the WIBC table. Sue
and Bobby Frost are organising the helpline and are looking for ways to
obtain a 900 / 902 number. This
can prove to be very expensive so are actively looking for sponsorship.
They are also looking for somebody to donate two mobile telephones.
Volunteers are needed to answer the telephones but must have some
experience in the field of counselling, although the volunteers would need
to travel to Alicante for special training.
Europcar has intimated to Sue that they may be able to help in some
way but, this is still just talk at the moment. Mary Lucas
– will be taking the money for the H&B and reminded everybody that
cheques will not be accepted as payment for the
exhibition, cash only please. Entry
forms are ready to be downloaded on the website and of course, are only open
to WIBC members. . So far, the
stands are 25 euros and advertising space in the Female Focus will be 10
euros. Suzanna Mace
– is having a meeting at the Pedramala on the 3rd October, to
look at the rooms and set-up possibilities for the forthcoming event and
will report back as soon as she has more information.
As usual, a gift certificate or prize is expected to be given by all
exhibitors on the day as the draw raises a lot of money for our cause. ANY
OTHER BUSINESS: Janet
said she is willing to do a sponsored parachute jump but would need a lot of
support to go through with it. She
will also need help to collect sponsorships.
Anyone willing to help with sponsorship forms, please let her know.
The sponsored jump will be in aid of two causes – ours and the
Costa Blanca North Branch of the RAF. DATES

October – Auction at El Cid 27th
and 28th October – Diwali Festival of Light, celebrating the
India New Year at the House of India, Alfaz Del Pi.
