MEETING MINUTES

Minutes for meeting Monday 4th September, Calpe

Meeting Chairperson – Karla Darocas

At the AGM it was agreed we would have a “revolving chairperson” for each meeting, giving everyone the opportunity to chair a meeting.

Volunteers will be asked for at the meetings, but it is intended that eventually everyone will have the opportunity – don’t panic ladies – you can always “joint-chair” if you’re nervous!!!

Mary Lucas will be chairing the next meeting at Javea, followed by Elaine Barclay and Janet Brownrigg will chair the next meeting at Calpe, followed by Marcia Vaugh.

Welcome to New Members

As this was the first meeting of the new season it was fantastic to be able to welcome five new members – Julie Cawthorne, Vanessa Peters, Christina Solari, Louise Ambler and Susan Gamble.

Member’s Introduction

This is the opportunity for members, both new and old, to introduce themselves to the group, promote their businesses and hand out business cards.

All members are reminded that they should be wearing name badges clearly stating their name, business name and WIBC office (if applicable).

Marcia desperately needs a drama teacher for her studio in Calpe and, as always, little boys (to partner her little girls).

Julie Cawthorne is offering 10% discount to WIBC members to advertise in Viva the Valley! magazine for the Jalon valley.

Louise Ambler is promoting the Starguide Business Directory.

Elaine Barclay is about to launch Mango Mixer – the ultimate on-line social networking site – check it out at www.mangomixer.com

Karla has launched a new website at www.spainhealth.net to bring you all the latest news on health matters for those of us living in Spain.

Janet Brownrigg has named her clinic in the Calpe Tennis Club – The Kamala Centre. Find out more at www.janetbrownrigg.com

Personal and Business Development Workshop

Part of the new structure of the meetings is a 15/20 minute education talk, either by the meeting’s chairperson or a guest speaker.

It is the responsibility of the chairperson to arrange this for their meeting.

Karla kicked us off with a fascinating and informative talk entitled “Don’t Believe The E-Hype” dealing with what to look out for and avoid when it comes to people designing your website!

Copies of this can be obtained from Karla at info@darocas.com

Networking Session & Product Display Table

Members had the chance to display their business materials and products on a table as they came in and this is the chance to promote them to fellow members.

Please make sure you take them with you at the end of the session!

Re-registering on the website

Karla asked that ALL members take a few minutes to re-register on the new WIBC website – if you have any problems please contact Karla. This is a much more professional- looking website and has better security to members - only pages.
