WIBC
2nd Anniversary Party & Fundraiser A totally SOLD OUT night full of fabulous food, fashion and entertainment fun! double
click on photo to enlarge - by Karla Darocas The House of India was all prepared with a band stand displaying the WIBC banner, as over a hundred tickets came through the door. WIBC members were seated with the public in order to business network and talk up the club and its campaign. The night of entertainment started out with the vocal duo of Apollo offering some soulful ballads and folk tunes. This was followed by dinner. Tables of guests were invited up to get as much as liked of some wonderfully prepared Indian delights. As if organizing the party was not enough, Savita and Reeta also organized a fashion show full of imported Indian garments that shone with silk and sparkled with sequence. Mixed with these fashions were the imported silk Chinese jackets that Jacqui Raife has been selling. The combination fit together very well. The entertainment continued with Elisa - WIBC member - who knows how to belt out a tune. She sang a couple of numbers and was rewarded with a big round of applauds. She was also juggling seating arrangements like a pro! The bellies were shaking as Hannah and her Dancers from La Costera performed an exotic dance number. Everyone loves a belly dancing show and these gals were out there on the dance floor moving like exotic minks! Next came a funny and very strange little man by the name of Bobby Lawrence. He was a mix of comedy, violin ballads and street folk songs. Their was a surreal flair about this act that made you laugh, even if you didn't understand! The Raffle ticket sellers did a super job of rounding up the tickets and getting them into a bucket just minutes before the raffle was to take place. There was a good variety of gifts for the offering, however the most amazing of prizes was offered by a new WIBC member - Ann Bateman, who dazzled the raffle with her handmade pink silk bed quilt. This was followed by the dance music duo of Jasmin and Markus who got the guests up on the dance floor.
All in all - a
fun-filled night with excellent food and entertainment. The
night raised 800 Euros to go to support the regional Women and
Children's Protection Shelters and the anti-domestic violence
campaign.
BIG Thanks to Alison Mc Fadden, who designed the party tickets; Reeta Jackson, Savita and Elisa Mayerhofer - who did an excellent job selling tickets, organizing the House of India and basically proving that when women put their minds to a task - they come out shining! Shine On Women!
