Costa Blanca Rock ´n´ Roll Road Show

Oliva Nova Beach and Golf Resort

I went to the "Rock & Roll" event with my sister-in-law to represent the WIBC. There we met with Barry and his wife - who were the organisers. We arrived at 8pm. Barry had already called me to tell me that the venue had been changed from the Golf Club House to the Oliva Nova Hotel. When we arrived there was a bit of a "hoo-haa" going on because the hotel had not supplied enough chairs and tables and people were very impatient and unfortunately some left.

However once the problem was resolved by 8.30pm, everyone had seats if not tables but seemed relatively happy. The music started and people were up straight away rocking and bobbing. I soon followed when one of my favourites, "Mustang Sally", was played. There were dance exhibitions and a fun time when a dance instructor with a headset asked anyone who wanted to learn a routine could come up and join in. The floor was full and then they had a competition for the best couple.

The buffet started at 10pm and the food was quite enjoyable with a selection of fresh salads. vegetables, Chicken and a paella on offer. The salad, veg and chicken being OK for me since they are on my weight watchers list!!

As the buffet started and people had sat down, I went on the mike to announce that the raffle being sold was in aid of "Domestic Violence" for the WIBC to donate to this cause in Javea and surrounding area.  There was a round of applause for this statement, of which I was quite pleased about. I did say that "Domestic Violence" can effect both Women & Men to which I received more applause!! 

The evenings entertainment was provided by the "Pick Up Band", "The Heartbeats" and "Rock of Ages", who all kept the audience a rockin´and a rollin´ until well after 1am.

The organisers would like to thank the individuals and companies who so generously donated prizes towards the raffle. Special thanks goes to Peter Hill of Sport in Spain for his prize of a holiday in Barcelona which was auctioned for 400 Euros bringing the total raised to 1,010 Euros.
