FUNDING REPORTS
Javea Women Shelter December 2006

WIBC was asked to support and fund a woman and 3 children, that had been the subject of violence caused by her husband.

A request for grant of E450 for a Rental deposit on accommodation, came from the Social worker at the local 'refuge', and she confirmed this case had gone through all proper legal procedures, including Police and Courts.

We understand Mrs S'  left the family home after being attacked by her husband, when he had been drinking .  He had before caused her injury on similar occasions, and she had previously tried to leave without success.

We understand with the help and support of workers at the 'refuge team', she is now commencing divorce proceedings and the family are preparing to start a life free from the threat of violence in their home.

The Funding Committee met and agreed the request met with our criteria, funding was agreed and a cheque given on the family's behalf to Social Services.

As usual, the Social Worker thanked us warmly for assisting this family with moneys that they have no other means of funding.

On the November the 6th, I received a request from Amparo, social worker of Trabajos Sociales and directly linked to the Women Shelter of Javea, to see if the WIBC could help out financially regarding another domestic violence case.

The victim, a mother of three children with no steady work contract, needed help with a months rental pay, after denouncing her husband via all legal procedures.

After contacting the WIBC via the Emergency committee, a cheque of 450 Euros was issued.

Also, the Toy Drive (another initiative of the WIBC) made it possible for me to hand over lots of bags of new toys at the Trabajos Sociales, for the children of the domestic violence victims in Javea's Women Shelter.

On behalf of these children and earlier mentioned victim, I thank all you ladies for your support.
